Research Interests

My main research interests lie on the intersection between technological developments, security practices, and societal change. I currently contribute to and lead projects on states of emergency and on emerging security technologies. These include research funded by the European Commission on preparedness of metropolitan areas in front of drone threats, a network of academics studying drones and other security technologies, a project on exceptionalism during the COVID-19 pandemic, and a Horizon 2020 project on border technologies

I am interested in several issues within the wider security studies agenda, and I've researched, taught and published on EU's security and defence policies, including counter-terrorism, EU-Israel-Palestine relations, and the politics of security and defence research and innovation.
